Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton is pleased to announce the addition of three new attorneys, Joshua H. Watson, William R. Schmidt, II, and Kelly L. Hinkel. Josh and Kelly have joined the corporate practice, while Bill has joined the patent practice.
Joshua H. Watson, Corporate Member - An experienced private funds attorney, Josh is a member of the Corporate practice group’s PIFA team. Josh focuses his practice on representing investment advisers, private investment funds, and institutional investors on a broad range of matters related to fund formations, secondary transactions, and portfolio investments. Josh advises fund sponsors when they form private investment funds, operate private investment funds, or make portfolio investments. Josh’s experience includes establishing on-shore funds, off-shore funds, separate accounts, parallel funds, feeder funds, and alternative investment vehicles. Immediately before joining MBBP in 2016, Josh practiced at Proskauer Rose LLP where he was a member of the firm’s internationally-recognized private investment funds group for six years.
William R. Schmidt, II, Patent Associate - A Registered Patent Attorney, Bill’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinions, and related counseling. Bill advises clients on implementing strategies to protect their intellectual property, with an emphasis on the life sciences. Bill works with a variety of clients including universities, research institutes, government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and start-ups. He has extensive experience in patent prosecution of the biotechnology, chemical, nanotechnology and mechanical arts. Prior to joining MBBP, Bill was an associate for a number of years at intellectual property boutiques in Washington DC, where he prepared and prosecuted applications in a wide range of subject matter for domestic and overseas clients.
Kelly L. Hinkel, Corporate Associate - As a member of the corporate practice group, Kelly focuses her practice on advising companies on financings, corporate governance, and entity formation. Kelly has represented private businesses in the healthcare sector and other industries on both the seller and the buyer side. She also has experience in real estate law, in particular in drafting lease agreements and purchase and sale agreements for commercial properties.
