WALTHAM, MA — Thomas Dunn, an attorney with law firm Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, PC, authored an article in the January 2007 issue of New England In-House on Registering Trademarks Abroad.
In the article he states, "Many U.S. companies assume because they ... have registered their mark in the U.S. they have the right to use their mark to convey their message in other countries. Not so." According to Dunn, the good news is that it is relatively easy to acquire trademarks abroad and he presents a plan for doing so.
Dunn concentrates his practice in intellectual property, with a particular emphasis on trademark, licensing and franchise law. He currently serves as an appointed member of The International Trademark Association's (INTA) Examination Subcommittee of the Trademark Office Practices Committee for the 2006-2007 committee term, and was listed in the recent issue of Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Stars in the category of IP Law.
Morse, Barnes-Brown Pendleton, PC, focuses exclusively on the core legal services that businesses need to succeed.
