Howard Zaharoff Presents Copyright Law Update at MCLE IP Law Conference

WALTHAM, MA — Howard G. Zaharoff, attorney at Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, and Walter F. McDonough, general counsel and founding board member of Future of Music Coalition, will present a Copyright Law Update at the MCLE Intellectual Property Law Conference on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in Boston.

Their presentation will cover copyrightability, derivative works, works for hire, termination of transfer, exclusive rights, fair use, DMCA, safe harbor provisions, and unauthorized uses (“piracy”). Also covered: proposed performance rights legislation, statutory licensing, various international approaches to ISP “levies,” and webcasting licensing.

Keynote speaker for the conference is William F. Patry, senior copyright counsel, Google, Inc. Patry is one of the nation's leading scholars on copyright law. His address is titled: Copyright Is Not Fairy Dust: Why Law Is Not the Answer.
