Scallop Imaging, a division of Tenebraex, is making news with the release of its security camera Digital Window, which stitches together images from five sources into one 180-degree image — two units provide 360-degree view. Coverage of the new product includes articles in the New York Times, MIT's Technology Review and Security Systems News.

News of Izotope's latest release of its audio-processing software Ozone 4 was touted in this article of Sound on Sound music magazine.

Vivox was featured in a New York Times Technology article, Vivox to Launch Cross-Platform VoIP Gaming Toolbar, for its plans to launch its cross-platform Vivox Voice Toolbar, a browser-based solution that enables developers of online games, virtual worlds and multiplayer online games to connect players through voice chat.

Mass. High Tech features Scvngr Inc. CEO Seth Priebatsch for launching a startup company that "makes a game engine that runs mobile phone-based scavenger hunts." See article here. The 20 year old launched his first company at age 13.

More on client SwitchGames in the news — this time for being a finalist in the Who's Got Game? startup competition at VentureBeat's GamesBeat 09 game conference. Congrats!

And speaking of games, FableVision hosted Boston Mayor Tom Menino at its video games studio on Congress Street for the announcement of PoweringUpBoston.com, a web site designed to support the digital game industry representing $200 million and more than 1,500 jobs in the Greater Boston region.

The Boston Business Journal, through its third annual Pacesetters Award program, has named FableVision as one of the region’s fastest-growing private companies. The honor recognizes FableVision’s ability to manage a rapidly growing company in the competitive educational media market. See more here.

According to this Mass. High Tech report, semantic data integration provider Metatomix Inc.'s latest $5.2 million round of VC funding will be its last as it expects to be profitable by the end of the year.

SwitchGames is in the headlines for relaunching as a social marketplace for free trading of used video games, consoles, and accessories. See related articles in Forbes and GameDaily with industry reaction.

The 2009 World Cup of Racing™, a global, team-style, annual internet-racing competition, was announced recently by John Henry, chairman of iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, LLC. Henry also announced that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has joined iRacing's Competition Committee, the group charged with overseeing the new tournament and other internet racing activities.

The Providence Journal carries this nice story on food writer Lydia Walshin who founded "Drop in & Decorate," an annual holiday cookie decorating event that "not only builds camaraderie among decorators, but also creates bridges between cookie makers and people less fortunate than themselves," at Sargent Rehabilitation Center in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Client Kaspersky Lab's and Russian founder and CEO Eugene Kaspersky are making headlines for breaking into the personal computer security market competing with the likes of Symantec, McAfee and Microsoft, including this USA Today article.

A MHT article, New tech-focused investment funds dismiss down economy, mentions former Highland Capital Partners partner Jo Tango's new venture capital firm Kepha Partners and portfolio holdings of data migration firm AutoVirt Inc. and wireless video company Azuki Systems Inc.

WindPole Ventures LLC has hit the news this week over its agreement with American Tower to evaluate nearly 1,200 microwave towers for suitability for wind turbines. The company's plans are detailed in a Boston Globe article, Entrepreneur's vision is up in the air, and a Boston Business Journal article, WindPole signs deal for national wind farm study.

Client Lawrence Pumps, Inc., a pioneer in the design and manufacture of pumps from Lawrence, MA, is among the Inc. 5000 fastest growing private companies in America. The company's revenues grew from $14.4 million in 2004 to $36.6 million in 2007 — a growth rate of 154.1% placing it at 2,390 on the list.

The New York Times carried this interview with Asheesh Advani, president and ceo of Virgin Money, formerly called Circle Lending, in the article: Making a Business of Family Loans.

Client Micronetics Inc. (Nasdaq: NOIZ) has booked a new $2.2 million order for radio frequency components from an unnamed manufacturer. According to this Mass. High Tech article, it is the company's third such deal in six months.

iRacing.com is making news for debuting its subscription-based auto racing simulation service for real-world racers and racing enthusiasts, as well as a platform for online racing. Established in 2004 by Red Sox owner John Henry and NASCAR game developer David Kaemmer, the company completed a beta test in June and launched the service in August.

Expressor Software Corp., a data management platform developer, has completed a $10 million second round of venture capital financing, led by Commonwealth Capital Ventures. See MHT article.

Start-up WebNotes and its founder Ryan Damico, are featured in this Mass High Tech roundup on new web technologies that let users share web content. WebNotes provides electronic sticky notes, highlighters and an annotation tool with special sharing and aggregation features.

Mass. High Tech reports that Implant Sciences has sold off its medical coatings business to concentrate on its bomb-detection devices. The paper cites competition in the Life Sciences sector affecting profitability of med coatings and increased demand for the bomb sniffing technology for the decision.

Somerville startup, Viximo, is featured in a front page Boston Globe article, It's the icon that counts, on the trend in virtual gift giving. Says the article, Viximo is one of several companies "selling its gifts [small digital icons] through an application that allows members to keep track of friends' birthdays and send virtual gifts to their Facebook profiles."

Start-up client YouCastr is featured in this June 5 issue of Mass High Tech. The company targets the "long tail" of sportscasting with a social networking site and recently signed an agreement with Dartmouth college to archive and show its football, hockey and baseball games.

Congratulations to our client Zeemote, the creator of the first compact wireless thumbstick for mobile gaming and maker of the Zeemote JS1 controller, for winning the inaugural ‘Quality of Experience Award’ and the ‘Technology Innovation Award’ at the Mobile Entertainment Forum’s (MEF) fifth annual Meffy awards.

Mass High Tech reports on startup Allegro Diagnostics' $4 million first round in venture capital to test the market for technology coming out of Boston University. This Channel 5 video nicely describes how the company plans to use genetic markers for early diagnosis of lung cancer. The spot features Avi Spira, one of the inventors and founders of the company.

Pharmaceutical company Ipsen will pay the Salk Institute for Biological Studies $10 million in the next three to five years to support key research initiatives — the first time the Institute has accepted money from a for-profit entity reports the San Diego Business Journal.

The Orlando Business Journal carries this article, Elsevier acquires local health care analysis company, on the company's recent acquisition of MEDai.

Congratulations to PR and ad agency client, Conover Tuttle Pace, for being named a finalist in PRWeek's 2008 "Promotional Event of the Year" award for a local jeweler's "Diamond Hunt."

RockBlocks Group Inc.'s recent financing earned press ink in a Mass High Tech article, Spinout RockBlocks lands $5M in first round.

Woburn-based Bridgeline Software Inc. has acquired Cleveland web application development company, Tenth Floor, Inc., in a stock-and-cash deal worth an estimated $4 million reports Mass High Tech.
