Shannon has represented a wide array of U.S. and international clients in the areas of corporate, securities, employment, compensation, and technology/licensing law. He advises, amongst others, venture-backed emerging growth companies, private equity and venture capital firms and their portfolio companies, and small to middle-market private and public technology, life sciences, manufacturing, and professional services companies. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, debt and credit facilities, strategic technology licensing and transfer, and executive employment matters. He also acts as outside general counsel to a variety of small and middle market private companies in a variety of industries. He is active in both firm leadership and civic affairs and has published relevant topical articles to his practice and has been quoted by numerous sources regarding contemporary legal issues.

General Counsel

Shannon acts as day-to-day de facto general counsel for various small to middle-market private companies in a variety of industries including life sciences, technology, manufacturing, distribution, and professional services. He has substantial experience advising executive management on a wide range of U.S. and international legal and business issues, including corporate transactional negotiations, debt and equity financings, licensing and protection of intellectual property, corporate governance, leasing, and executive compensation.

Firm Leadership

Shannon is the past chair of the firm’s Venture Capital Task Force, which publishes the VC Spotlight. He also is a past member of the marketing committee, and the current chair of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group and a member of its Life Sciences Task Force.

Professional and Civic Affiliations

Shannon is a co-founder and executive committee member of the Exit Planning Exchange (XPX), which is a unique professional organization that provides networking, collaboration and educational opportunities for professional advisors focused on preparing business owners for the successful exit of their businesses. He is also an active participant of LawExchange International, a network of 20 plus law firms in Europe, India, China, Australia and North America with over 50 other correspondent firms throughout the world. Shannon is also an active member of ACG’s Boston Chapter. Finally, Shannon is a past member of the Finance Committee and a current member of the Town Council in Franklin, Massachusetts.
