Joe Martinez is a venture capital and M&A attorney at Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, and works in the firm’s Waltham and Cambridge offices. Joe’s practice focuses on the representation of entrepreneurs, technology start-ups and emerging companies from formation through liquidity event.
Joe represents clients from a variety of industries, including software and information technology, digital games, transportation and manufacturing. He routinely advises clients through angel and venture capital financings and a range of other transactions including bank financings, commercial contracts, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.
He is active in the venture capital community in the Greater Boston area and has been a judge and mentor for the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, MassChallenge and the SBANE New England Innovation Awards. Joe is also a member of the American, Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations and has spoken about the proposed SEC regulations for equity crowdfunding at the Boston Bar Association.
Before joining Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, Joe was a corporate associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP in Boston. Prior to his legal career, Joe worked as a management consultant for a Cambridge firm with a focus on transportation and information technology and his consulting practice included work with a number of major chemical and railroad companies.
Joe graduated from Harvard University and Boston College Law School.
